Savica Waterfall

The Savica Waterfall, one of the most recognisable Slovenian waterfalls, springs from the steep wall of Komarča, from an altitude of 836m and is the spring of Sava Bohinjka. It has a great natural specialty: his current forks in two parts underground, so that it surfaces in the form of letter A, and its droplets have a 78m fall. The main flow to the waterfall is water from the Valley of the Triglav Lakes (Seven Lakes Valley). The karst cave underneath it is indeed astounding and it hides many secrets, but it can only be accessed in the company of guides and with appropriate gear. Visit it in the early morning hours and water droplets will sprinkle you with fairy-tale magic and energy. The admission fee for the waterfall is only a symbolic contribution for maintenance.

The third most visited attraction in Slovenia. A spectacular waterfall, hidden amidst the steep walls of the Komarča.

THE MAGNIFICENT SAVICA WATERFALL

The Savica Waterfall is the source of the Sava Bohinjka, known under the name of Savica to the spot where it flows into Lake Bohinj. It is one of the must-see sights for Bohinj first-timers, and it is possible that you will join those who visit Savica each and every time they come to Bohinj.
Savica is very unique among world waterfalls – its watercourse is divided into two parts in the hidden undergrounds. The famous A-shaped waterfall normally comes into sight at an altitude of 836 m and is 78 m high.
It is fed by the waters from the Valley of the Triglav Lakes and Pršivec that flow to it through a horizontal cave tunnel. The Karst cave with the source is full of syphons and lakes and is only accessible with a guide and proper equipment.

HIKING STARTING POINT

Koča pri Savici hut is a starting point for hikes to Komna and the Valley of the Seven Triglav Lakes. The first hiking trail leads from Dom Savica on the left side (not in the direction of the waterfall) through the Pekel valley. The hike to the Dom na Komni hut takes approximately three hours.
The second hiking trail goes across the bridge over the Savica by the hut and then towards Komarča. The steep and sometimes quite open but well-secured trail with magnificent views takes you first to the Črno Jezero lake and then to the hut at the Dvojno Jezero lake (a 4 to 5-hour walk).

YOU CAN REACH THE SAVICA WATERFALL IN DIFFERENT WAYS:
